Jazzman831 (usually signing as simply JazzMan) is the RationalWiki manifestation of Conservapedia editor HelpJazz.
One of RationalWiki's (and Conservapedia's) few libertarians, JazzMan was turned into the living dead by the Samwell Incident. He was briefly brought back to life by the Fuck You Too Incident, during which he suffered two malicious blocks and some abuse. After departing from both sites for several months, he returned in September 2008. Despite still displaying the "Retired" template on his RationalWiki user page for over a year, JazzMan is currently RationalWiki's most active corpse, commenting or arguing daily on the WIGO:CP talk page.
HelpJazz's role at Conservapedia was often to moderate and restrain the excesses of parodists extremists such as Bugler, and to favour balanced, reasonable articles. Similarly, at RationalWiki JazzMan often objects to the more derogatory comments made about Conservapedia and prominent CP editors, and tries to tone down much of the criticism. It is unknown why he ever wanted or aspired to be a Conservapedia sysop. For these reasons, he receives a mixed reception from other editors, both at Conservapedia and RationalWiki, varying from respect to contempt.
As of December 2008, he has again quit Conservapedia, the last straw being Andrew Schlafly's promotion of TK, and restated his retirement from RationalWiki, asserting that "in order to quit CP I have to quit here".
Quitting Conservapedia seems to have raised his standing at RationalWiki. On the 15th of December 2008 he was promoted to bureaucrat[4]. This gave TK a convenient excuse to block him on Conservapedia[5]. He was demoted to sysop again on the 8th of February 2009.[6]
