Night Mode Incident

The Night Mode Incident started on 5 February 2009 when Neveruse513 suggested putting RationalWiki into "nite moad" after repeated vandalism to the Poe's law article by a suspected spambot.[1] RationalWikians lacking a finely tuned sarcasm-detector (Phantom Hoover, TheoryOfPractice and CUR) failed to detect the thinly-veiled sarcasm.[2] The incident escalated when Neveruse announced he was going to implement night mode[3] (although how he would do that without access to the server is anyone's guess) and went supercritical when Weaseloid announced he was developing a bot that would automatically block users to enforce night mode.[4]
This would be the least important incident in RationalWiki history and would barely rate a 5.9 on the Headless Chicken Mode scale if the range permitted non-integer values.
