Nx has been an editor at RationalWiki since 29 December 2008, a sysop since 5 January 2009, a bureaucrat since 27 February 2009, and a moderator since 20 September 2011. ^[4] He is very proficient in JavaScript, and has created several popular scripts.^[5] Until September 2011 he was RationalWiki's main tech person, having replaced Linus in that position. He has apparently had seekrit communication with Trent and had access to the RW server. ^[6]

[edit] Tech status

Nx has long had access to the server and performed technical duties. He was offered a "system administrator" position in September 2011 from the RationalWiki Board, but did not immediately accept. Instead, he made a forum: Should Nx have server access to ask for input from the community. Many RW'ians weighed in, both yay and nay, but despite many favorable responses, Nx decided to decline the position, and relinquished his tech rights as well. However, after being elected a moderator, he made his sock, Ponder Stibbons, a tech.

Nx was elected as a Moderator in the elections held from Sept 13 - 20, 2011. The vote was close, Nx and Blue were elected, with Ace McWicked winning as the alternate. ^[7]

[edit] Group dynamics

Nx is a quite reasonable individual. He seems to have gotten along well with Mei, and was the go to guy for most of... well everything coding related. His talk page archives consist almost entirely of requests by other people for something, requests for him to fix something, MarcusCicero, or conversations with Mei. He does not like trolls. He also does not like malicious blocks. He and Lumenos didn't seem to hit it off real well^[8]. Nx and human DO NOT get along. At all. For more information see the controversies section below.

[edit] LANCB's and Returns

He retired (for the first time) on the 21^st of June, 2009^[9], for unknown reasons,^[10] and then came back again. ^[11]

He sadly decided to LANCB once again after a massive argument over him actually following site policy. ^[12] He did return to argue for converting the saloon bar to LQT, but the resulting shitstorm ensured that this was only a fleeting visit. ^[13] The only other activity seen from him since was three comments after Blue implemented collapsible tables.

He returned in April, to talk about signatures, fix Capturebot2 and delete failed screencaps. As usual, nobody thanked him. He did not remove the retired template, in fact his userpage consisted of nothing but several retired templates, and a "pretending to retire" template. ^[14] However, he no longer has "retired" templates on his user page, is still active in the community, and is now a Moderator.

Nx was responsible for the removal of all sysops during the Saloon Bar Putsch. Human then put a movement before the board to remove his server access ^[15] As Nx still seems capable at performing serverside activities, it was apparently unsuccessful. Human and Nx appear to loathe each other, to the point that human for a while rolled back any comment Nx made on his talkpage. ^[16][17][18] He also has allegedly ran checkuser once in 2010.^[19] But it apparently turned out to be a joke. ^[20] He also once got into an argument with P-Foster over the santa-hat RW logo ^[21] Nx allegedly installed checkuser again in May 2011, but it is possible that he simply created a user group called checkuser and merely added himself and Eira to it.

[edit] Latest project

He appeared to have been working on an autosign bot. The bot (NxBot) was in beta testing.^[22]

Nx occasionally uses a sockpuppet by the name of Ponder Stibbons.^[23] The name is a reference to the under-appreciated wizard in charge of the computer in Discworld's Unseen University, and who is also (fittingly) the only sane man there.

Nx's last project appeared to be an attempt to reduce the use of dpl via a replacement template. Like many good ideas throughout RW, it went nowhere.
