This was a notable incident so we definitely should have an article on it. It isn't ideal that CUR, who was right at the centre of the controversy, wrote the article, so it will probably need some rewriting (see discussion on Main Page talk: avoid writing about yourself as much as possible). I've expanded it to reflect the sequence of events better. I'm not sure about the "aftermath" stuff. Some of it could probably be expressed better, & some just looks like hyperbole. But then I've been fairly close to the action in this incident myself, so I'll let other minds decide. In my defense--yes, I did remember that the CUR had edit-warred over sexuality and furry fandom. Beyond that, I paid little attention to what he had to say on the topic. I remember he said he was something other than a furry (as it turns out, a "therian," but the term didn't stick in my mind until after the big incident), and while the article which inspired me to ask about "otherkin" did mention furries, it did not, as I recall, mention therians at all--so I had no idea that the two terms were related, as much as I had little idea CUR was one in the first place...

As this bit reads right now, it seems like someone is trying to say that I was trying to provoke CUR. Given that I had didn't really know anything about otherkins and therians and that I really didn't know he was one (I thought he was some sub-set of furry, but couldn't know he was a therian if I didn't know what a therian was in the first place...) I wonder if this can be re=phrased to reflect my ignorance and not any sort of passive-aggressive move on my behalf...TheoryOfPractice 00:53, 26 January 2009 (UTC)

I've taken that clause out; could go back in if it's rephrased better. Sorry ToP, I wasn't meaning to imply that you were intentionally provoking CUR - I was trying to convey that I thought the reason you first mentioned the furry/otherkin thing was probably because of the recent controversy over the furry fandom article, not specifically anything to do with CUR being a therian. weaseLICIOuS ^{Bite Me} 01:07, 26 January 2009 (UTC)
