Turdblossom

A Turdblossom is a debate that blooms and dies away briefly over the course of a few hours, but which can have lasting effects, leaving a bitter, rancorous aftertaste and sometimes altering RW policy for good, if not always for the better.

Of the 22 (as of January 2010) turdblossoms, the first was June 2007's Request for comment on HeartOfGold. The longest lasting and biggest was January 2009's Community standards revamp, which spawned its own subturdblossom, or turdsubblossom, on voting procedures.

• Project Turdblossom also grew rapidly over a few hours, although failed to become a turdblossom in itself because nobody gave a shit. They are all now gathered in a little box, and can also be found at Category:Turdblossoms.
